We are purchasing a new game server to replace the existing GLaDOS as it does not currently meet the society needs.

In the process of migrating to the new GLaDOS we will be doing a fully interactive talk and demonstration broken down into three parts.

The first part of the talk will be on building a computer from the individual components by George. The second part will be on install Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS and the final part will be on how to run and manage a game server.

The talk will be performed in the council chambers and each section will be run by the following committee members.

    Building a PC: GeorgeStorm, oliverw92
    Installing Linux: Miles, GeorgeStorm
Running a game server: Splooshiba and Miles

Just a reminder this talk is still going ahead today. We will also be selling LAN tickets!

I hope people found the talk useful for the parts we didn't mess up. We didn't have much time to prepare.

    Feedback is welcomed.

Seemed to go well, well done. Maybe worth posting links in this thread or somewhere to some useful sites for each of the areas covered?

T'was a great talk bar the few setbacks. I learn quite a bit about the server side so I found it useful. I'm looking forward to the others ;)

There was a pretty cool cameraman, someone should get him a decent video camera and not a silly phone!
