Minecraft 1.8 has been officially 'leaked' into the wild and is now being trialled by everyone. I thought we might want to join in the fun, so I have set up a Minecraft 1.8 server on GLaDoS. This server is public, but please don't share it around too much. Try and keep it within the society. Currently you can't just tell your client to update to 1.8, you need to manually place the minecraft.jar. This is a pain, so instead I have made a standalone 1.8 Minecraft you can use - simply download the zip, extract it and run start.bat. There is a readme inside explaining it. Get it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24279633/Minecraft 1.8.zip NB: This only works on Windows. If you are using anything else, you will need to download the zip, find minecraft.jar and replace your current installation of Minecraft 1.7 with it. The server details are automagically included in the zip above, however if you still need the address it is glados.lsucs.org.uk:27016 Please don't edit the spawn area. And try not to make creepers blow the house up.
Oli, you don't know where to report bugs do you? I had mine crash when trying to create charcoal (I used wood and wood) and then game crashed.
I had a quick look at the Minecraft wiki and it wasn't in the 1.8 buglist but I don't have permission to edit the wiki.
1.8 was meant to be out today, but because of all the bugs found in the leaked version it's getting pushed back again lol
I think Oli said it was close to being done, but he is very busy with his course and the LAN prep work we are doing for the weekend.
I'm not sure, Oli is working on it; He runs another server if you want one in the meantime; play.minecraftcc.com Make sure you read the rules though!
what about the regular update? they have an update for most other servers... or is this the wrong one?
