    Website + Notes
Right so this is fast approaching.

For those that want to download the software we'll be using etc, you can view the notes on either my Evernote notebook (best if you already use Evernote as when I update the notebook, you'll get updated as well) or on my website.

    My Site
    Evernote

Note - I will be going over these in the presentation as well.

A laptop isn't required. I wont be printing off slides or handouts but will direct you to a guide and the presentation at a later stage should you want it.

What kind of level will you be doing? I've kind of taught myself bits as required (references, literals, figures, etc.), but I'm sure that I don't use it anywhere near optimally.
  5. drezha LSUCS Member

I'll be starting from the ground up (installing, editors, basic use which includes the classes, tables, figures, references, code).

If you know that, it might be a bit low level for you (though towards the end I'll be covering some third party bits you might not know of or ideas you hadn't considered)

    EDIT:
I planned the talk because a few people expressed an interest in using LaTeX and not know where to start. The aim of this is for students to be able to grasp the basics (so they can write a report). Those needing it for a thesis might find the ideas a bit basic (but well used!).

If people want to focus on something, let me know now so I can add it in.

Looks interesting, it should save me from procrastinating over font/size and all that stuff

Wah, this is at the same time as a conference in London that I really want to go to >.>

I'l try to be there, however learning LaTeX for the e-Skills exam next week may give me a hate for all things LaTeX. :(

Contrary to our beloved leaders email, I will be talking ABOUT LaTeX rather than to LaTeX... That would be a pretty boring lecture otherwise...

Well I think you managed to cover more in that 90 minutes than was covered in 3 weeks worth of lectures for us CompSci freshers. A great talk :D

    Thanks :)

    Hope it was helpful.

Website has been updated. For those that want to see the presentation, you can find it here - should run in Firefox and Safari (maybe IE) - for some reason Chrome and Opera don't like it.

Extras etc can be found from the site.

If you have extra questions, I'll try and answer them here.

Thanks again. I didn't really expect to learn anything, but it turns out I did!

    Really well presented.

    Would recommend. A+++++++

I do advise this trick that I heard from wise man though. If there is a lack of questions at the end pelt the audience with Maoam, the fear of one hitting their laptop will make them speak up
